Mosaic
Dance is a Dance School based in Resolven, Neath in South Wales.
Formed in 1999, it started as a couple of ballet classes for pre-school children and has developed over the years to offer classes to all age groups and in a wide range of dance disciplines.
The name “Mosaic Dance” was chosen for the dance school to show that, as in a mosaic picture, there are a lot of small parts that make the big picture at Mosaic Dance and each student plays an important and individual part. This importance of the individual student is emphasised in the style of teaching offered at Mosaic Dance. The focus is on providing an enjoyable atmosphere for the student to learn about dance. The teaching is student-led, with informal classes working at the student’s own pace and with input from the students on what areas they would like to concentrate on, in addition to the core lesson material. There is not a strict syllabus or examinations but rather a concentration on building the dancer’s self confidence and enjoyment of dance. There is an emphasis on creative dance and the students are taught and encouraged to choreograph and sometimes display their own dances. This teaching style has proved successful over the years with students making vast improvements in their technical dance ability as a result of their increased confidence.
Mosaic Dance has produced many successful productions and dance performances and taken part in school fetes, carnivals, variety shows and festivals. It is through performing that many of the students really thrive and develop and all students are encouraged to take part in performance opportunities.
Classes are currently on offer for children aged 3yrs up to adults. There are classes in ballet, tap, creative dance, disco, contemporary and dance for fitness with new classes added every year. |
